Emmy® Award winning television, film and stage actor, Ian Buchanan plays noted psychiatrist Dr. James Warwick on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Born in Hamilton, Scotland, Buchanan ventured to New York where he worked both on stage and in various television shows. He quickly landed a role on the daytime drama General Hospital, where he portrayed Duke Lavery for three years before leaving to join the cast of The Gary Shandling Show, where for two years, he portrayed Gary's next door neighbor, Ian. Buchanan?s other credits include the role of Richard Tremayne on David Lynch's Twin Peaks and the role of Peter Lawford in the USA Networks movie, Bobby & Marilyn. Ian's other film credits include Double Exposure, The Cool Surface and The Seventh Sign. He also starred as Psychiatrist Martin Dysart in a performance of Equus, a role in which he received a Los Angeles Dram-Logue Award. His other stage performances include The Maids, Losing Venice, The Heiress and Love and Anger.

Buchanan was a member of the B&B cast from 1993 to 1999 and then again in 2002, in which he won a Daytime Emmy® Award in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor, in 1997.

His most recent credits include an arc on the critically acclaimed Nip/Tuck and a role in the soon to be released film Train Wreck: My Life as an Idiot starring Gretchen Mol. Additionally, Buchanan currently performs in the musical repertoire, The Citizen's Band.
