Dan Martin
Multi-talented Dan Martin portrays Los Angeles’ resident police detective “Lieutenant Baker” on CBS’ hit daytime drama, The Bold and the Beautiful. For well over a decade, “Lt. Baker” has been a vital part of the series; entangled in the lives of the Forrester, Logan and Marone families during their times of crisis.
Often cast as a law enforcement officer in such television hits as L.A. Law, Melrose Place, ER, and Boston Legal, Martin has also flaunted his comedic abilities in sitcoms such as Everybody Loves Raymond and Malcolm in the Middle, where he had a recurring role.
Some of Martin’s film credits include Enough with Jennifer Lopez, Rush Hour with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, Beverly Hills Cop III with Eddie Murphy, Steven King’s Sleepwalkers, and Heat with Academy Award© winners Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino. Additionally, Martin directed the short film When Night Comes for E Hubbard Productions.
Martin’s true acting roots stem from theatre, where he spends most of his time and in many capacities. His credits as a stage actor include stints with the famed Negro Ensemble Company in New York in “A Soldiers Play” and “Ceremonies in Dark Old Men.” Other independent productions include “Streamers”, “The Guys in the Truck”, “Hamlet”, “Split Second”, the national tour of Lee Blessing’s “Cobb”, the international European tour of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, and many more. Most recently he appeared in Towne Street’s production of “Nevis Mountain Dew”. In addition to his acting credits, he has also directed many plays such as, “For Colored Girls….”, “The River Niger”, Ron Milner’s “A Theme for Linda”, and “A Bag of Magic.” Since moving to Los Angeles, Martin has directed both August Wilson’s “Fences” and Levy Lee Simon’s “The Bow Wow Club”, for the National Black Theater Festival, and “Ambiguity” for the Towne Street Theater.
In 2009, Martin was nominated for a NAACP Image Award© in the category of “Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series.”
Martin resides in Los Angeles with his wife, actress and producer, Ella Joyce. He celebrates his birthday on December 22nd.
