Paul Williams plays a Bailey, a recovering alcoholic, on the daytime drama THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL.
An accomplished actor/songwriter/composer, Paul is most known to audiences for his portrayal of Little Enos in Smokey and the Bandit Parts One, Two and Three, and for his role in Oliver Stone's The Doors. He has also guest-starred on numerous television hits such as Walker, Texas Ranger, Picket Fences, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Dream On. He is also the voice of the Penguin on the animated television series Batman.
Paul has received worldwide recognition for the millions of records that his songs have sold. Popular artists such as Barbra Streisand, Luther Vandross and Kenny Loggins and have all recorded songs written by Paul. Some of his best songs include We've Only Just Begun, Rainy Days and Mondays, I Won't Last a Day Without You, You and Me Against the World and Evergreen.
Paul became a motion picture composer in 1973, which led to his first Academy Award nomination for Nice To Be Around (co-written with John Williams) from Cinderella Liberty. Evergreen, the love song from A Star is Born, co-written with Barbra Streisand, won the 1976 Oscar for "Best Song of the Year. The Academy again nominated Williams in 1980 for The Rainbow Connection as Best Original Score from the Muppet Movie. The Muppet Movie soundtrack then went on to win a Grammy and became the biggest soundtrack album of the year, exceeding sales of one million units. Other film credits include, The End, Rocky IV and Ishtar.
Paul is actively involved in the Musicians' Assistance Program and other non-profit rehabilitation organizations. The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence recently asked him to join their board. The knowledge that Paul has gained from his own experiences, in addition to the education and certification from UCLA as a licensed drug rehabilitation counselor, has qualified him as an expert guest on such shows as Primetime Live and Geraldo Rivera.
Paul was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. He is married and is the proud father of a son and a daughter from a previous marriage. He is 5' 2 with blond hair and blue eyes.
