Ridge is upset that Brooke is supporting Nick's decision to take Taylor to court and reminds Brooke that she is the one who is hurting their relationship; Brooke must separate herself from Nick in order for her and Ridge to have a future together. Rick calls Brooke to ask her to stay away from the hearing because her presence could make things worse for Taylor. Storm tells Brooke that she should be at the courthouse to help Nick's case by testifying if need be. Brooke agrees to be there but asks Storm to only call on her only if he absolutely needs to. Taylor assures Rick and her attorney that she will have no problem staying in control since Brooke won't be at the hearing. Later, Taylor enters the courtroom and is rattled to see Brooke there. Brooke tries to calm Taylor down, but Taylor becomes emotional and yells that Brooke will never take Jack away. In the midst of her emotional tirade, Taylor lunges at Brooke.

Brooke and Nick are both concerned for Jack's safety now that he is with Taylor, not knowing if Taylor is still drinking or what her mental state is. Storm agrees to represent Nick in an emergency custody case and is shocked to learn that Brooke is Baby Jack's biological mother. Taylor and Rick scramble to rid her house of all alcohol. After some flirtation between the two and Rick's failed attempt at kissing Taylor again, Taylor receives papers from the court regarding Nick's request for an emergency custody hearing. A very emotional Taylor calls Nick, chastising him for trying to take her child away from her and blaming Brooke for instigating the hearing. Felicia and Ridge plan an anniversary party in hopes of reuniting Eric and Stephanie.

Stephanie tries to persuade Ashley to rekindle her relationship with Ridge because Ridge and Brooke's relationship is on the rocks. Ashley informs Stephanie that she has her sites set on Rick, but promises that she will not completely close the book on a possible reunion in the future with Ridge. Taylor arrives at Nick's house to pick up Baby Jack and is surprised to see Brooke there. Brooke is surprised to see Rick with Taylor. Nick reluctantly lets Taylor take the baby home. Brooke begs Nick to get their son back to ensure Baby Jack's safety. Nick tells Brooke that he doesn't want to hurt Taylor; he will let Taylor have Jack tonight, but tomorrow he will bring their son home.

Brooke tells Nick that he needs to find a way to stop Taylor from taking Baby Jack because Taylor is too unstable to care for a child. Brooke later tells Nick that a part of her wants to be his wife and Jack's mother, but this is her last chance to marry Ridge. Ridge tells Taylor that she did the right thing by leaving Nick. Ridge confesses that he is worried that Brooke will want to spend more time with Nick and Jack now that Taylor is gone. Taylor tells Ridge that he would be crazy if he married Brooke because Brooke and Nick will always be in each other's hearts. Ridge warns Taylor not to trust Rick, especially after what happened between Rick and Phoebe last year. Later, Rick visits Taylor and tries to dissuade her from taking Jack from Nick. Rick points out to Taylor that he is one man that Taylor wouldn't have to compete with Brooke for.

Stephanie has everyone on their toes waiting for her reveal of who shot her. Stephanie tells the police that she is the one who is responsible and adds that her own actions led someone to shoot her. Stephanie asks the police to please drop the case. Later, Eric asks Stephanie if she let Storm off the hook in hopes to get something in return. Stephanie tells Eric that the only thing she wants is for her and Eric to spend their anniversary together with their family; afterwards, he is free to make whatever decision he wants to about the future. Nick is stunned by the news that Taylor plans on taking Baby Jack home with her. Taylor tells Nick that she hopes that they can work out a custody agreement. Nick recommends that Taylor not take Jack home tonight because he's sleeping. Taylor agrees to come back to tomorrow. Before she leaves, Taylor tells Nick that she will never give up on her son.

Nick is impressed by Taylor's new attitude. Taylor apologizes to Nick for the way things ended between them; he could have been the true love of her life. Before Taylor leaves, Nick asks her if she wants to say good night to Jack. Taylor tells Nick, "No. I'm taking him with me." Donna and Brooke hope that Katie can get through to Stephanie, but Storm tells them that he has accepted his fate. Later, Brooke, Donna and Storm arrive at the Forrester mansion where Ridge becomes furious at the sight of Storm and lunges at him. Alone, Katie tells Stephanie that she understands how Stephanie must feel and tries to reason with her. Stephanie respects Katie and her approach but tells Katie that nothing is going to change her mind about turning Storm in.

Donna pleads with Stephanie for another deal. Katie and Brooke enter and tell Stephanie to leave. Stephanie tells the sisters that they are all responsible for what's about to happen to Storm. Katie tries to convince Stephanie to change her mind. Stephanie commends Katie for trying, but picks up the phone to call Lt. Baker anyway. The sisters stand by as Stephanie asks Baker to meet with her in an hour. A surprisingly cordial Taylor visits Nick to check on Baby Jack. Taylor tells Nick that leaving him was one of the most difficult things she has ever had to do in her life, but it was the right thing. Taylor tells Nick that she will always love him but now she has to move in a different direction: finding a man who ISN'T in love with Brooke. Taylor vows to concentrate on getting back to the woman that she used to be. Eric asks Ridge if he will help protect the Logans from Stephanie. Ridge sides with Stephanie and tells Eric that Brooke and Katie have already asked for help; he won't because Storm needs to pay for what he's done. Katie goes to talk to Stephanie to try to get her to change her mind about turning Storm into the police.

Stephanie is outraged and deeply hurt by Eric, who tells her that Donna had informed him about Stephanie blackmailing the Logans. Stephanie pleads with Eric about how she has done nothing but try to change who she is for him. Eric scoffs at Stephanie knowing that she hasn't changed a bit. Ridge shows Brooke the newspaper with Eric's naked picture on it. Brooke fesses up about Stephanie blackmailing the Logan family which upsets Ridge that Brooke hadn't told him about Storm shooting Stephanie. Katie runs in and asks Ridge to help save their family from Stephanie. Ridge is very unsympathetic and insists that since Storm did the crime, he must do the time. Later, Stephanie visits Donna and tells her that she had her chance to abide by the deal, but Donna has just cost Storm his freedom.

While reading the morning newspaper, Eric comes across the picture of him on the ledge. Eric goes to Ridge for help with keeping Stephanie from seeing the picture. Ridge, in jest, suggests that the only way to keep Stephanie from seeing the picture would be to fly her off to Tahiti; which Eric thinks is a great idea. While on the jet heading to Tahiti with Stephanie, Eric receives a call from a frantic Donna, who had just seen the newspaper. Distracted by his phone call, Eric doesn't notice that the flight attendant gives Stephanie the newspaper. A furious Stephanie confronts Eric and scolds him for deceiving her. Eric comes back at Stephanie by telling her that their marriage is over; his future is with Donna.

Eric is on the ledge of the building in the nude. Stephanie pokes her head out of the window but doesn't see Eric. After Stephanie leaves, Donna and Eric rejoice that they were not discovered and had pulled one over on Stephanie. The private investigator that Stephanie hired takes a picture of Eric on the ledge and emails it to the editor of the newspaper. Bridget becomes emotional when she talks to Nick about how nice it was for the two of them to put a baby to sleep together; the way it should have been if Nicole had survived. Later, Katie pays a visit to Nick and doesn't mix words when telling him that he can not be a part of Brooke's life and that he and Brooke need to stay away from each other.

Brooke breaks off the kiss telling Nick that she just can't do this. Nick tells Brooke that it may not be today, but it is going to happen between them again; they both know it. Brooke pulls away from him, running out of the room. Stephanie is furious to learn that Eric is still sleeping with Donna and swears to invoke pain on Donna like the pain that Stephanie has from the loss of a loved one. Later, Stephanie receives a phone call from a private investigator who tells her that Eric was spotted at a seedy apartment and then gives her the address. Stephanie heads out to catch Eric and Donna in the act. Upon another visit from Bridget, Nick tells her about Brooke turning him down. Nick tells Bridget that until Brooke realizes that she belongs with him and Jack, he will make sure that he does everything in his power to be a good father to Jack. Stephanie arrives at Donna and Eric's love nest demanding for the couple to open the door. Donna and Eric become flustered, wondering what they are going to do next.

Brooke tells Nick that she is in love with him and Ridge but she made the decision months ago to spend her life with Ridge; she is going to stay with that decision. After kissing her again, Nick tells Brooke that he can see in her eyes how much she loves him and then asks if she wants him to crawl on his knees begging her to choose him. Brooke tells Nick "no" and asks him to understand her position and to let her go if he really loves her. Ridge and Stephanie both express their suspicions that Eric may still be seeing Donna on the sly which prompts Stephanie to count Eric's "little blue pills." Stephanie notices some pills missing which lead her to believe that Eric is lying to her; he is still having sex with Donna. Stephanie vows to catch them in the act. Eric and Donna spend a passionate and sticky Valentine's Day together.

Brooke tells Ridge about Taylor leaving Nick and that she is concerned because Taylor left Baby Jack behind. Ridge tells Brooke that this is not Brooke's problem and she knows his position on the situation. Brooke tells Ridge that Jack needs a mother right now which makes Ridge asks Brooke if she thinks of herself as Jack's mother. Later, Brooke tells Katie how Nick had asked her to leave Ridge and make a future with him and Jack. Katie is taken aback by this and recommends that Brooke stick with Ridge. Bridget pays Nick a visit and becomes emotional at seeing his interaction with Baby Jack, reminded of how life would have been if Nicole has survived. Nick tells Bridget of Taylor leaving him and his proposition to Brooke. Later during a visit, Nick reiterates his feelings to Brooke and she tells him that she has made a decision, searching her heart and soul, and knows what she has to do.

At breakfast with her siblings, Brooke is visibly distracted by reminiscing about the events which took place the night before with Nick. Storm tells his sisters that he often thinks of going to the cops to confess, but he has come to realize that Stephanie is a saint who has saved him from going to jail. Later, Donna explains to her sisters about her and Eric's plan of deceiving Stephanie, but assures them that she is taking every precaution not to let Stephanie find out. After hearing from his children of their relief that he has ended his relationship with Donna, Eric makes an excuse to leave the office to secretly meet with Donna at their love nest. Both Stephanie and Ridge voice their suspicions of Eric's recent change of heart towards Donna. Stephanie calls Eric's secretary and finds out that Eric is still not back from his "meeting" and no one knows where he is. Stephanie then asks the secretary to make dinner reservations for a romantic night for her and Eric.

Brooke pulls back from the kiss with Nick; both are out of breath from their intense feelings. Nick tells Brooke that she can't marry Ridge because her heart truly belongs to Nick and Baby Jack. Nick adds that he loves Brooke and wants her in his and their baby's lives. Nick then asks Brooke if she wants that, too. After an intimate moment in his office with Donna, Eric receives a call informing him that Stephanie is in the building. Eric and Donna take this opportunity to continue their charade that their relationship is over by pretending to break up for good in front of Stephanie. Taylor breaks away from Rick's kiss and asks him what he's doing and if it was out of pity. Rick tells her it's more than that and has an urge to kiss her again. Taylor tells Rick that she is still a married woman who is a lot older than him and who is his mother's nemesis. Before he leaves, Rick tells her to think about all that he said tonight; she has so much to offer and to not let it go to waste. Taylor is left with a big smile on her face.

Taylor poses her questions, once again, to Nick. He tells her the truth that he does still love Brooke but remains committed to Taylor and their son. Taylor appreciates Nick's honesty, but she must leave him because she can no longer live in Brooke's shadow. During a discussion with Rick, Brooke receives a phone call from Nick telling her that Taylor had moved out. Rick runs to Taylor's aid as Brooke runs to Nick and Jack's aid. Rick finds a surprisingly calm Taylor and decides to raise her spirits by showering her with positive accolades. Nick asks Brooke if she is willing to be a mother to Baby Jack now that Taylor has left.

Brooke is shocked at Nick's declaration, but Nick assures her that he still plans to have a life with Taylor and Jack. Rick expresses his concern for Taylor to Bridget, who knows all too well how Taylor must feel about being second to Brooke in Nick's heart. Taylor's hallucinations continue which cause her to become extremely distraught. James enters in time to calm her down, but then gives her some staggering advice of what to do to remedy her hallucinations.

Stephanie tries to force Brooke to admit that she still loves Nick and adds that Brooke marrying Ridge would be a disaster. James suggests to Nick that he take sometime to think about the question even though Nick has his response. So, Nick spends some time by himself on his boat to contemplate his feelings for Taylor and Brooke. As Nick gets lost in his memories of Brooke, Brooke enters having been forced to do some soul-searching, also. After learning of what James had asked Nick to think about, Taylor begins to have hallucinations of Brooke moving into Nick's house and replacing Taylor as Nick's wife and Jack's mother.

Because of Taylor's actions the night before, Nick calls James to the house to help Taylor. After hearing Nick's heartfelt declaration of love of her to James, Taylor confesses to the men that she has been drinking recently. While talking with Stephanie, Ridge is not convinced of Eric's recent change of heart. Stephanie tells Ridge of her knowledge that Brooke is Jack's biological mother. Stephanie urges Ridge to not marry Brooke but then promises to butt-out when Ridge becomes upset. Later, Stephanie informs Brooke that their recent reconciliation is officially over and Stephanie will see to it that Brooke and Ridge are never to be married. Stephanie confronts Brooke asking her if she still has feelings for Nick. While speaking privately, James asks Nick if he still has feelings for Brooke.

Taylor pleads with Brooke to marry Ridge. After a discussion with Nick, Brooke politely refuses causing Taylor to almost drink champagne but instead shattering the glass in her hand. Nick later calls Brooke with an update on Taylor. Upon hanging up, Brooke and Nick reminisce separately on their past relationship. Jackie barges in on Stephanie and blurts out that Brooke is Baby Jack's biological mother. Bridget later confirms this to a disbelieving Stephanie. Jackie admits that she is trying to reunite Brooke and Nick, but Bridget yells for Jackie to mind her own business. After Bridget leaves, Jackie suggests an alliance between her and Stephanie to break up Brooke and Ridge and to reunite Nick with Brooke.

Brooke is shocked at Taylor's gift as Ridge thinks that it is a great idea. After Nick voices his disapproval to Taylor, she assures him that Brooke and Ridge getting married is what they all need to get on with their lives and to built bridges between them. Ashley admits to Rick that she should have known better than to get involved with Ridge because of his connection to Brooke. Ashley adds that she regrets letting go of the good thing that she once had with Rick. Ashley asks Rick if there might be a second chance for rekindling their relationship.
