Owen races up to Big Bear, knowing that Donna is in danger, and calls Marcus on the way. Brooke and Ridge put the pieces of Eric's poisoning together and head up to the cabin with Marcus, as well. The evening turns lethal as Donna comes face-to-face with impending death after being knocked unconscious by her assailant. Donna begs for her life but her attacker shows no mercy.

After escaping with her life, Donna hysterically drives up to the Big Bear cabin to hide from whoever attacked her. When Brooke arrives at Donna's house, she stumbles upon damning evidence of who assaulted Donna and later confronts the accused. After hearing about Donna's attack, Marcus and Steffy bail Owen out of jail. Owen reviews the police reports which reveal to him who really poisoned Eric. While at the Big Bear cabin, Donna receives an unexpected visitor.

Tensions rise when Donna and Stephanie make accusations and threats against each other. When confronting Owen about Eric's poisoning, Ridge receives some unexpected words of advice. Marcus doesn't know if he should believe Owen's warnings about Donna being in danger. While home alone, Donna has a terrifying encounter with a masked intruder.

Stephanie tries to strong-arm Owen into implicating an accomplice, but is unsuccessful. A day at Bikini Beach becomes steamy when Marcus and Steffy meet. Stephen pours his heart out to Beth in hopes of rekindling their relationship. After Donna had frantically set out to find who really poisoned Eric, she comes to her own conclusion of who should be behind bars.

Owen tells Donna the truth about Eric's poisoning and then gives her a frightening warning. Katie insists on proceeding with her pregnancy despite the health risks and suggests an alternate future for her and Nick's baby. Stephanie vows vengeance against the person who poisoned Eric. Lt. Baker has his own theory about the poisoning.

As the police are about to make an arrest, an unexpected confession is made which causes the police to take another suspect into custody. After Katie is assured by her doctor of complete confidentiality regarding her pregnancy, Nick sneaks into the room to attend the exam. The doctor is initially surprised to see that Nick is the father but then delivers to him, and Katie, mixed news regarding their baby.

Marcus tries to attack Owen again but is stopped when Lt. and Charlie Baker arrive to investigate the alleged crime. Beth sees a different side of Stephen when he demonstrates erratic and aggressive behavior when making reference to Eric. Just as Ridge and his siblings are about to leave to apologize to Donna, Brooke's news changes their minds. Stephanie and her children make their own accusations about the cause of Eric's heart attack.

Thorne and Felicia are appalled when Ridge informs them that he wants to concede and apologize to Donna in hopes of making amends and getting their jobs back. Marcus becomes irate when Owen returns, leading to another shoving match. After hearing Marcus' allegations, Owen tries to flee but is stopped when Bridget arrives with the test results that confirm Marcus' suspicions.

Ridge is still reeling from his earlier actions and is grateful to Owen for arriving when he had. Marcus rushes to help Donna and enters the house to find her in a compromising position with Owen. A scuffle occurs as Marcus tries to physically throw Owen out of the house. Jackie visits Eric in the hospital and delivers disturbing words to him; words of a woman once scorned by his love. After telling Donna of his suspicions, Marcus asks Bridget to help him prove his theory that Eric's heart attack was intentional.

Marcus tells Brooke of his suspicions of Owen trying to take advantage of Donna. After putting the pieces together, Marcus constructs a theory of what may have caused Eric's heart attack. While Steffy has a heart-to-heart talk with Taylor, an embarrassing moment occurs when Rick abruptly enters the room. Owen comforts a vulnerable Donna as she begins to fall for his kind words and irresistible charm.

While Marcus and Steffy are in the heat of the moment, they are interrupted by an unwelcomed guest. Katie finally hears the words that she had always longed to hear; these words now make matters worse in her already-complicated life. Brooke is taken aback when Ridge makes outrageous accusations against Marcus and Donna. Ridge then vows that there will be severe ramifications if Marcus doesn't heed his warning.

Beth comes to Katie's aid just in time to save her from having to divulge her secret to Bridget. Unaware of the true reason that Katie is turning down her request, Bridget comes to her own conclusions and asks Nick for assistance. Marcus and Steffy pledge their love for each other and decide to take their relationship to the next level. Nick recalls fond memories that cause him to become confused about his life.

After Beth's observations lead her to a very wrong conclusion, Katie is forced to reveal her secret to her mother. Bridget is concerned that she overstepped her stepmother duties when she makes a surprising request from Taylor. While preparing for her special night with Marcus, Steffy has an uncomfortable conversation with Rick. Marcus becomes outraged when he sees that Owen is back in town and is making himself at home in Donna's house. While Marcus is confronting Ridge about the information Owen had given him, Ridge warns Marcus to stay away from Steffy. Marcus defiantly goes against Ridge's wishes by heating things up with Steffy on their date.

Marcus and Steffy find an opportunity to spend some time together without being seen by members of either of their families. Steffy plans a special evening for her and Marcus to mark a momentous occasion. Despite Ridge's intimidation, Owen becomes the voice of reason and is able to influence Donna's decision. Ridge realizes that he was premature in his actions and becomes grateful to Owen for making him realize this. As Owen comforts Donna, he makes an honest admission accompanied with an unexpected kiss.

Katie and Marcus have a touching aunt/nephew afternoon of bonding as she gives him sound advice about having a relationship with a Forrester. Ridge is surprised by his own actions and has a difficult time forgiving himself. Ridge's siblings and Donna are appalled when Ridge tells of his mistake, but soon change their mind after hearing from Bridget. Owen arrives just in time to stop Donna from making an irrevocable decision.

Being only able to think about the day on the island with Nick, and their conversation the day before, Katie has a hard time concentrating on work. Bridget becomes alarmed when Nick changes the subject every time she talks about Katie. Masking his thoughts of Katie, Nick comforts Bridget as she grieves for her father. Ridge is in great anguish after learning the extent of Eric's declining state. During a moment alone with his father, Ridge hears Eric's voice pleading for help.

After much discussion, Katie and Nick agree to not to make a big deal of the situation until they have more information. Bridget is forced to tell Ridge and Brooke the reality of Eric's deteriorating condition and suggests that the family prepare for the worst. Ridge is overwhelmed with grief at the thought of life without Eric and being the one to make a decision about his father's fate.

After learning more about her condition, Katie calls Nick to meet her on The Shady Marlin.

Their connection deepens and things become steamy as they spend the day together without any of the scrutiny of their families or work. Bridget insists to be on-hand as Katie goes through some routine follow-up tests at the hospital. Before meeting Katie, Bridget and Nick discuss starting a family.
