Stephanie attempts to pit Ridge against Brooke by playing on his hatred towards Rick. Thinking that Eric has arrived for their secret rendezvous, Donna opens the door to her worst nightmare. An argument about Rick's fate prompts Eric to tell Stephanie about Thorne's botched scheme to break him and Donna up. Knows where the conversation is headed, Stephanie doesn't mince words when she bluntly asks if he is leaving her. Rick's life takes another drastic turn when he is visited by Steffy.

In the spirit of Christmas, Ridge puts aside his anger and resentment as he delivers a speech about how important family is during tough times like they all have been through recently. Seeing how Katie was disappointed by the present he had given her, Nick makes up for it with a very shiny and expensive back-up gift. Touched by Ridge's speech, Rick humbly thanks him for allowing him to spend Christmas with the family.

Eric makes a promise to Thorne that he will wait until after Christmas to inform Stephanie about his reconciliation with Donna. Rick's visit to Phoebe's grave becomes surprisingly cathartic when he is met by a very forgiving Taylor. Later, Rick arrives to the Christmas celebration where opinions of his presence are mixed. Bridget reveals to Steffy information that proves Rick's version of the accident was the truth. Ridge convinces Taylor to celebrate Christmas with the family. The Logans share a bittersweet Christmas with Marcus as a new addition, but without the presence of Storm.

Thorne is torn between keeping his father's secret and protecting his mother from the inevitable heartbreak that is awaiting her. While secretly celebrating their reunion, a selfless Donna encourages Eric to spend Christmas with his family...including Stephanie. Seeing Rick's reaction to her request makes Brooke change her mind and plead with Ridge to change his.

During an emotionally-charged conversation, Ridge makes his wishes regarding Rick known to Brooke. Rick tries his best to reason with an unsympathetic Stephanie. Owen and Eric go head to head over Donna before information about marital indiscretions are revealed. While on the airplane back to San Francisco, Donna gets a surprise in-flight guest. Fresh from his exhausting meeting with Stephanie, Rick is blindsided and heartbroken when Brooke informs him of, and supports, Ridge's request.

Thorne becomes concerned when stumbling upon Grace having a meeting with Owen and Donna. Owen later eavesdrops during Thorne's efforts to silence Grace with an unsuccessful threat and an enticing bribe. Donna's timing couldn't be worse when she tries to comfort Eric. Brooke makes a desperate plea to Ridge to not let Stephanie lure him into her vendetta against Rick. In an attempt to do the right thing for his family, Ridge is torn between his grief over his death daughter and his devotion to the woman he loves.

Thorne is caught off-guard when Grace, the model he hired to pose as Donna, comes back looking for additional payment for her services. Seeing Thorne's insensitive dismissal of the model sparks Owen's suspicions and sends him looking for answers. Owen later informs Donna that he is through wasting his time on her. Grieving family and friends come together for an emotional memorial for Phoebe. Rick's presence at the memorial is unwelcomed and causes a disruption when he attempts to pay his final respects.

Still plagued with guilt from Phoebe's death, Rick makes a vow to stop his conniving and return to living a life that his family can be proud of. Ridge attempts to dissuade an inconsolable Taylor from believing that she is at fault for Phoebe's death. Bridget makes one last effort to clear Rick's name by paying a final visit to Phoebe. Despite valiant attempts to stand up to Stephanie regarding Rick's innocence, Brooke receives a serious threat.

Rick is put in a difficult position when he pays a visit to Taylor to apologize about Phoebe. Stephanie continues her mission to seek justice for Phoebe's death by pushing the police to conduct a further investigation. Fuel is added to Stephanie's fire when Steffy provides further information about Rick. Seeing each other for the first time since the accident, Brooke and Ridge feel the tension between them because of the situation of their children. The tension becomes even more intense when Stephanie arrives.

Rick confesses his misdeeds to Eric and receives an unanticipated reaction. A visit to the crash site seems like the remedy to gain closure for losing a loved one, but an unexpected a phone call triggers the reality of the loss.

Still overwhelmed with guilt, a much calmer Rick confesses everything he had done prior to the accident to Brooke. Steffy has a hard time tearing herself away from Phoebe but later finds a way to get closer to her sister. Ridge finds Steffy in a dangerous situation that conjures up his fears of losing another child. Unable to get Ridge on her side to blame Rick for the accident, Stephanie decides to take matters into her own hands.

While Steffy and Ridge grieve together, she asks him to take her to see Phoebe. At the morgue, Steffy says a heart wrenching goodbye to her twin. When not getting a response after asking Phoebe for a sign that they will always be together, reality sets in with Steffy that her sister is gone forever. Rick becomes defensive when Stephanie interrogates him about why Phoebe is dead and he isn't.

Unaware of the accident, Taylor vows to rebuild her damaged relationship with Phoebe now that she is back in town. A distraught Ridge returns to the party to deliver the devastating news to his family. Ridge's all-consuming anger and grief sends him on a rampage when Rick arrives to the party. After the commotion ends, a self-loathing Rick explains to Brooke about the accident while Stephanie eavesdrops. While Taylor sits at home reminiscing about her children, Ridge arrives and shares in the memories before easing into the news about Phoebe.

Stephanie delays her arrival to Brooke and Ridge's party to comfort Taylor and assist her on taking a new outlook on life. Bridget feels vindicated when she turns down Nick's request. Seeing the exchange, Katie becomes upset and takes her anger out on Eric. Steffy thinks that guilt is what is causing an overwhelmingly strange feeling. What was to be one of the happiest nights of Ridge's life is ruined when Rick arrives at the party.

Family and friends gather at the Forrester mansion for Brooke and Ridge's red carpet rehearsal dinner gala. Tension is palpable when Bridget comes face-to-face with Nick and Katie at the party. Taylor's family becomes concerned about how she will deal with Ridge marrying Brooke. Steffy gets a welcomed surprise. Steffy's confession continues to haunt Phoebe, prompting her to angrily confront the man who broke her heart and tried to destroy her family. The heated confrontation takes a screeching turn for the worse.

As Brooke and Ridge prepare for their rehearsal dinner celebration, the matter of Rick's attendance adds friction to the day. Brooke extends an invitation to Rick, which isn't received very well, while Ridge extends the same invitation to Taylor. Phoebe returns for her father's wedding and reveals the true reason behind why she had left town. It becomes apparent that Phoebe still carries residual resentment towards Taylor and Rick.

Brooke announces to Katie that she and Ridge will be married in two days at the location of their first wedding, in Malibu. Donna is blindsided by Eric abruptly ending their relationship and callously dismissing her. Satisfied that his plan had worked, Thorne calls the family together to share the good news. Thinking she has lost the competition for Eric's heart, Stephanie is pleasantly surprised when he asks if she will take him back. Eric and Stephanie's children celebrate with their newly reunited parents when learning of the reconciliation.
