Here we go again. Brooke, Ridge and Taylor. Twenty years later and they are still playing this game. Sure things have changed, (babies born, children died, paternities switched, Taylor's multiple "deaths") but the basics are still there. Honestly though, how long can they keep playing?
Really I think it is time for Ridge to finally settle down, but not with Brooke. This whole fantasy of Brooke and Ridge has been played out. For years I watched Taylor and Ridge as one of soaps' most grounded couples. They were happy, romantic, hot, and just beautiful. Taylor balanced Ridge out in a way that no one else did. She kept Ridge's enormous ego in check, something that Brooke only seems to make bigger. Tridge seemed as though they could overcome anything. Ridge always chose his family with Taylor over Brooke's advances, they survived Morgan, and even two times believing Taylor has died. Taylor and Ridge were the media's "darling couple" for a reason. But somewhere along the way, things got mixed up, and Ridge suddenly felt that it was always Brooke.
The truth is though, it was never Brooke. First it was Caroline, and then it was Taylor. And ever since Ridge has tried to make Brooke his number one, they've proven exactly why it is that they don't belong together. Constantly hurting one another, this sick obsession they both have with a "destiny" that never existed has ruined countless lives. From professing his love to Brooke's daughter on their wedding day, to sleeping with her while she was on pills (talk about what goes around comes around huh?), to trying to steal the company from her, to punching her son right in front of her face, to remarrying Taylor without even telling her first, I think it is safe to say that Ridge has been no white knight for Brooke. And given that Brooke slept with Nick the same day she thought Ridge died, she ran off with Nick during her wedding with Ridge, and she's supported her son over her husband despite everything Rick has done, it is safe to say that Brooke isn't exactly Ridge's prize either. All Brooke and Ridge ever seemed to agree on was having sex in their office!
Taylor and Ridge don't have a wrap sheet like that, and the reason is because they belong together, It is no shock that Brooke has already changed her mind, but last week Brooke "gave" Ridge to Taylor, and I can only hope that perhaps just maybe it will truly be the end for Brooke and Ridge. LA's Bridge is falling down. Maybe now we can get back to B&B's two most romantic couples, Ridge and Taylor, and Brooke and Nick. Bridget better start practicing her aim with wine bottles again, because I can only hope that her sham of a marriage will be over in no time, and maybe finally Jack can be with his real family. Brooke and Nick...
