It seems like an eternity that I've been wanting to move to Los Angeles. Even in high school when I still wasn't exactly sure "what I wanted to do with my life, " as teachers always put it. Still, not ever having been, I had the urge to move to California. I had hoped to do it last year, but as with many people in the country as of late, and college students in general, I didn't just have a pile of cash laying around to move to one of the most expensive cities in the United States.
But I didn't give up, and I was determined that this year I was going come hell or high water. And as what happens with faith, things always tend to have a way of working out. In no time I found myself pulling my Garbage posters off my bedroom wall, emptying my closet, and shoving it all into the back seat of my little red car. Within a few days I was with my family driving into the Hollywood hills. It was overwhelming, exciting, confusing, and in a good way even a little scary. The anticipation of life, the unknown future, it is a hard feeling to describe. Even when you know it is coming, you can't prepare yourself for what it will really be like. Reading about how to drive a car is a lot different than being behind the wheel yourself.
The weather was beautiful of course. The hills surrounded us everywhere, unlike the landscape of Dallas, and in the distance we could even see smoke from the fires all over the news. It was Friday, August 28, 2009, and I was on my way to see the new apartment. I had been sick for the entire trip, and so much was happening so quickly, but what I couldn't stop thinking about was what would await the next day. The Bold and the Beautiful's 2009 Annual Fan Event would be taking place, and what better way to start my California adventure than with the cast and crew of the show that inspired me to find my calling in television production and move to LA to jump head first into life?
