Michael Fairman

One of the leading experts in the field of daytime drama, Michael has had over twenty years experience in the medium.  Michael has been an innovator in the field developing new concepts for the soap opera genre.

In June of 2008, Michael launched his new website: “Michael Fairman On-Air On-Soaps” at www.michaelfairmansoaps.com.   Covering the world of daytime from his insider perspective and with his unique take on the genre, “Michael Fairman On-Air On-Soaps” is a multi-media online platform featuring video and audio content, soap star interviews, an online community, blogs, and hot news and previews in the world of soaps.

Michael has been a pioneer in online new media as creator and executive producer of SoapCity.com for Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment.  SoapCity.com. was the first site of its kind for the soap genre. It featured web casts, chats, event coverage, news and updates on all major network soaps operas. The site housed official show sites of "The Young and the Restless", "Days of our Lives", "As the World Turns" and "Guiding Light".  Michael has been a producer and writer for several soap oriented series and projects ranging from, E! Entertainment Television's daily live soap-talk show, "Pure Soap” to SOAPnet’s “Soap Center”, to producer for over eight Daytime Emmy, Soap Digest , and Soap Update award shows; for Dick Clark Productions, ABC, Lifetime Television Network, and this year for Associated Television International’s presentation of the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy broadcast.

Michael has also served as a writer/producer in the on-air promotions department for ABC Daytime and SOAPnet, creating numerous spots for various soaps and image campaigns.

As a journalist, presently, Michael is contributing feature correspondent for TVSOAPS Australia covering the world of daytime in the US for the Australia market, where “The Bold and the Beautiful” remains the top rated soap.  For the past seven years, his feature interviews with the top stars of the genre have become a mainstay for this top bi-monthly publication.  In 2009 Michael launched his first soap column, the bi-monthly “Soapside: Advocate’s Guide to Daytime”.  The highly popular feature takes a look at the soaps from the LGBT’s audience perspective. Michael also writes in-depth soap star feature interviews for Advocate.com’s online platform. In the past, Michael’s syndicated columns have appeared on many US TV and Radio web sites. He has also been contributing feature writer/reporter for TV Guide Online, In-Touch Weekly, and other online and publication platforms with his unique special event coverage and features.

Michael has been an on-air host, talk show guest, and radio performer being seen and heard in different markets throughout the United States. Currently Michael appears as a recurring guest on “The Frank DeCaro Show” on Sirius Satellite Radio, and has been host and creator of XM 24’s Soap Break on The Pink Channel.

For over six years Michael appeared as "The Super Soap Sleuth" each month on the popular “Northwest Afternoon” on ABC Affiliate KOMO-TV in Seattle, Washington.  In the past, Michael’s "Soap Dish" weekend radio segment was popular on KFI-Los Angeles, "The Karel Show”.  

His other credits have included; producer and writer for the WWE, ABC/Disney Cable Networks, and Beantown Productions. Additionally, Michael has been the Communications Director for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Manager of Publicity for MCA Records.

Last, October, Michael produced “Soaps in the City” a fundraiser for AIDS Walk Los Angeles, and has produced many celebrity high-profile fundraisers in the past. Some of the non-profit organizations he had worked with in the past have included:  Outfest, The Humane Society of New York City, AMFAR, Para Los Ninos, Northern Lights Alternatives, and The Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Back at the height of the AIDS epidemic, Michael was the first to initiate the annual AIDS Fundraiser the night before the Daytime Emmys in New York City entitled “Night of the Daytime Stars”.  The event featured performers from daytime game shows, talk shows, and soaps in a variety talent show to support the cause. “Blades for AIDS”, was held at the world famous Roxy nightclub in New York City, and featured a throw-back to the 70’s featuring soap stars and sitcom celebrities on roller skates.

Michael currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
