“THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL” RECEIVES THREE NOMINATIONS FOR THE 44th NAACP IMAGE AWARDS
December 11, 2012…Los Angeles, CA…Actress Kristolyn Lloyd has been nominated in the category of Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series and actors Aaron D. Spears and Rodney Saulsberry have been nominated in the category of Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series for the 44th Annual NAACP Image Awards for their work on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL (B&B), it was announced today by the NAACP.
Lloyd first appeared on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL as “Dayzee Leigh Forrester” in August of 2010. Once a resident of Los Angeles’ most impoverished neighborhood of Skid Row, “Dayzee” still serves as a guardian angel to the community she once called home. Equal parts philanthropic and flirtatious, “Dayzee” allows all those around her to view the world with a new set of glasses. She has now found a whole new life in Beverly Hills with a brand new family and a loving husband, “Marcus Forrester”.
Aaron D. Spears portrays “Justin Barber”, a father and an executive vice president of Spencer Publications, a major magazine conglomerate. “Justin” may not be the most scrupulous person in business, but when it comes to family, he wears his heart on his sleeve. Spears joined the cast of B&B in September of 2009.
Rodney Saulsberry plays “Anthony”, a homeless musician who has found a lifetime friend in “Dayzee” and a now stable job working at her restaurant. “Anthony’s” woes continued this year when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver. Saulsberry joined B&B in October of 2010.
This marks Lloyd’s first NAACP Image Award nomination. It marks Spears’ third NAACP Image Award nomination, his others being in 2011 and 2012. Saulsberry has received one other NAACP Image Award nomination in 2011. These nominations total 17 NAACP Image Award nominations received by B&B throughout the show’s 23 year-run. In 1993, the late William J. Bell was nominated, and won, in the category of Outstanding Daytime Drama Series. In 1999, Usher was nominated in the category of Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series for his role as “Raymond”, as was Antonio Sabato, Jr. in 2006 and 2007 for his role as “Dante Damiano”, Mykel Shannon Jenkins in 2008 for his role as “Charlie Baker”, Dan Martin in 2009 for his role as “Lt. Baker”, Texas Battle in 2009, 2010 and 2012 for his role as “Marcus Walton”, and Aaron D. Spears in 2011 and 2012 for his role as “Justin Barber”.
