Ridge and Carter discuss the fashion challenge, and Carter wonders how it will affect the company. Douglas interrupts Thomas and Hope's moment of romance, stating he wants to speak with Hope. Thomas leaves to give them space, and Douglas expresses his concern for Hope after breaking up with Liam. Hope acknowledges that she is sad but that sometimes things don't work out how one wants them to. Douglas asks if he, Hope, and his father, Thomas, could now be a family. Douglas asserts that this was his own idea, not his father's, but he hopes Hope will give Thomas a second chance. Thomas returns in time to overhear Douglas's plea. Katie learns that Eric feels like Ridge is pushing him out of the company. Katie informs Donna and Brooke that she has instructed R.J. not to talk to the press about Ridge and R.J. not wanting to work together. Brooke is worried about possible tension between Eric and Ridge and between Ridge and R.J. Donna comes to Eric’s defense, letting Brooke know that the situation came across as Ridge is the one who didn’t want to work with Eric, and Eric was offended by it. Tension mounts between the sisters as Katie and Donna defend Eric, and Brooke supports Ridge. R.J., Thomas, and Ridge meet in the CEO's office. Thomas and R.J. disagree about Eric's retirement.
